About Sudurpashchim Samaj Kathmandu

Sudurpashchim Samaj Kathmandu was established in the year 2066 B.S. with the noble objective of fostering cooperation, goodwill, and coordination among people from the Sudurpashchim region who are residing permanently or temporarily in the Kathmandu Valley while being engaged in various professions and occupations. The organization also aims to preserve, promote, and publicize the indigenous culture of Sudurpashchim.

It is a non-political and non-profit organization, formally registered with the District Administration Office Kathmandu and Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Its office is located at Ward No. 32, Koteshwor, Kathmandu Metropolitan City. The organization currently has around 300 active members, including both lifetime and general members.

The founding president of the organization is Mr. Maya Prakash Bhatt from Baitadi (currently residing in Dhangadhi, Kailali). The former president is Mr. Keshar Bahadur Saud from Achham, and the immediate past president is Mr. Lal Bahadur Bohara from Baitadi. From the 16th General Assembly held on Poush 12, 2082 B.S., a 15-member executive committee has been unanimously elected under the leadership of Mr. Ramdatta Pant from Darchula and is actively working. The chief advisor of the organization is Dr. Haridatta Pandey.

Major Activities of the Organization

  1. 1. Preservation, promotion, and presentation of indigenous cultural practices such as Thado Khel, Dhusko, Dhumari, Deuda, Nyaulya, etc.
  2. 2. Organization of a Deuda cultural program at Nepal Academy, Kamaladi, with around 1,500 participants, under the leadership of founding president Mr. Maya Prakash Bhatt and with the chief guest, the then Rt. Hon. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.
  3. 3. Construction of a waiting area at Mahadevsthan Temple premises, Koteshwor-32, Kathmandu, under the leadership of former president Mr. Keshar Bahadur Saud.
  4. 4. Organization of the Holi festival in Kathmandu Valley with the support of culture enthusiasts, initiated during the tenure of former president Mr. Lal Bahadur Bohara.
  5. 5. Annual publication of “Sudurki Sorai” under the active involvement and editorship of chief advisor Dr. Haridatta Pandey.
  6. 6. Regular publication of a wall calendar based on important dates, festivals, fairs, and traditions of Sudurpashchim.
  7. 7. Collaboration and coordination with various organizations related to Sudurpashchim active within Kathmandu Valley.
  8. 8. Advocacy, discussions, and initiatives on public issues related to Sudurpashchim.
  9. 9. Active efforts toward establishing a Sudurpashchim Cultural Museum in Kathmandu Valley.
  10. 10. Playing an active role as a supportive companion among members and well-wishers in times of happiness and sorrow.

We aim to cultivate a spirit of generosity, enabling community-driven change through funding initiatives such as: Educational scholarships. Disaster relief and humanitarian aid. Welfare programs for the underprivileged.

Our commitment is to rebuild and strengthen communities impacted by natural disasters or other crises, focusing on: Reconstruction of essential infrastructure, including schools and homes. Long-term development projects for sustainable livelihoods. Partnering with local and global organizations for impactful solutions.

Peace

We strive to create harmony within our community and beyond by: Promoting dialogue and understanding across diverse groups. Organizing educational programs on peace-building and conflict resolution. Encouraging unity and collaboration among members.

Health

Our vision includes ensuring the health and well-being of our members by: Conducting free health check-ups and medical camps. Spreading awareness about physical and mental health. Providing access to resources for better healthcare.

Our Activity

At Far-West Society, we actively engage in various initiatives to uplift our community, preserve our heritage, and contribute to societal well-being. Below are some of the key activities we undertake:

Cultural Preservation

Organizing Cultural festivals, traditional dance, and music events. Conducting workshops on native language, history, and customs. Showcasing traditional art and crafts to promote cultural pride.

Community Development

Supporting educational programs, including scholarships for underprivileged students. Hosting skill-building workshops and career development seminars. Facilitating networking opportunities for Tamang professionals and businesses.

Fundraising for a Cause

Hosting events to raise funds for community development and relief programs. Running crowdfunding campaigns for disaster recovery, education, and health projects. Engaging supporters through charity events, auctions, and social campaigns.

Volunteering

Encouraging members to participate in community welfare projects. Organizing volunteer-driven activities such as health camps and educational workshops. Recognizing and celebrating the contributions of our volunteers.
